High Desert Equine Center
American Bashkir Curly Mares-meet the "Ladies"

Ladies Shadow, "Shadow"
ABC 3046, foaled 2002.

Black Gaited Mare. 15 hands tall.  Big, well built mare,
she is the mother of our gaited filly.  Solid black with one
blue eye and a long thick spiral mane and tail that does
not shed, she is indeed a beauty.  Exceptionally
sweet natured she will follow you around the pasture
looking for attention.  With her smooth foxtrot gait she is
a joy to ride.  Well trained to saddle she has been
successful in the show ring as well and has done multiple demos, parades, trail and ranch work.
And now she has proven she is a great mom as well. Foundation bred out of Angel's Lady,ABC
1451 by Tatanka ABC 1927 she is a full sister to our other mare Red Sky Dawning.

Mead's Judith,
ABC 2347, foaled 1997.

Bay Mare.  14 hands tall.  An amazingly pretty mare with
a gorgeous thick mane and tail and moderate curly coat.
Judith spent the majority of her life as just a "wild horse"
on Joe Mead's ranch.  Because of this, she is extremely
shy of humans and we have elected,at this age, just to
leave her a broodmare.  She is however, now halter
trained and getting braver, even willing to take a treat!  We have decided to keep her as
she consistently puts a wonderful disposition on her foals.  They are smart, willing and
super friendly. Out of Deborah M, ABC 754 by the Yellow Hornet, ABC 878 she is
foundation bred.

LCC Tropicana Twister, "Juicy"
ABC 3012, foaled 2002

15.2 hands tall.  On lease to High Desert, this big mare has
the Foxtrotter background everybody is looking for.  Big
and stocky with a rock solid build, her beautiful and
unusual maximum Sabino color attracts attention
everywhere she goes.  Friendly and intelligent she learns
quickly.  Well started under saddle, she will continue in
training but already has Halter Championship accolades under her belt!  Bred to DCC
Traveler (ABC 2450) for a 2010 baby, we can't wait to see what she will produce.  Out

Ponderosa Black Star, "Rosa"
ABC 2175, foaled 1996

14.1 hand Yellow Dun Mare.  Stocky build.  Moderate curl
with full mane and tail.  Friendly, she is easy to catch and
handle. Primarily she has served as a broodmare for us,
however this year we have plans to also get her started
under saddle once her baby is weaned. Out of Mead's North
Star, ABC 1414 by Mead's Hi Yeller, ABC 1914, she is
foundation bred.  Having previously produced a gaited
foal out of a gaited stallion, we have bred her to DCC Traveler, ABC 2450 in hopes of
another gaited foal in 2010.

Red Sky Dawning, "Cookie"
ABC 3215, foaled 2003.

Red Dun Mare. 15 hands tall.  This beauty is on lease to
High Desert and will be taking part in our stallion's first foal
crop.  She is bred to WW Peter Lakota for a 2010 foal.
Graceful and elegant, she moves with beautiful long strides
and has already proven herself in the show ring, as well as the demo arena.  Our future
plans for her will take her to the jumping arena as well.  Out of Angel's Lady,  ABC
1451 by Tatanka, ABC 1927 she is foundation bred.  With a moderately curly coat, she
keeps her tail but sheds some of her mane.  Conformationally correct and with a
beautiful head to match, she is a joy to watch!  Look for her baby in the Spring!
